What you are and are not charged for
Sending is the only thing in the product that moves your balance. The rest of this list is here so nothing surprises you later.
Sending a contractbillable
$0.25, charged once when the contract is sent.
Resending a contractbillable
A resend goes through the same send path, so it costs another $0.25. There is no separate free reminder.
Extra signers on a contractfree
The charge is per contract, not per signature. A contract with six signers costs the same as one with a single signer.
Test-mode contractsfree
Contracts created with test_mode run the full send path and are never charged. One caveat worth knowing up front: the balance check still applies, so your account needs at least $0.25 on it to send in test mode — it just does not spend it.
Team membersfree
There is no per-seat charge and no seat count anywhere in the billing code. Invite whoever needs access.
Templates, webhooks, API keys, storagefree
Nothing else in the product touches your balance. Sending is the only billable event.
How this compares
Most e-signature providers charge a monthly fee per seat and then a per-envelope rate on top. We keep the side-by-side numbers on one page each, so there is only ever one place to correct them.
Questions people actually ask
Is there a monthly fee?
No. There are no subscriptions in APISign at all — no plans, no tiers, no minimums. You load a balance and each contract you send draws it down.
Do I need a credit card to start?
No. Creating an organization grants a $5.00 balance automatically, which is 20 contracts at $0.25 each. You only add a card when that runs out.
What happens when my balance runs out?
Sending returns a 402 with the amount you need, and nothing is charged. You can add funds manually or turn on auto-recharge, which tops the balance up from your saved card when it falls below a threshold you set.
Does a contract with several signers cost more?
No. One send is one charge, however many people have to sign it. Providers that price per signature get more expensive as your documents get more parties; this one does not.
Can I test without paying?
Yes. Contracts flagged as test mode run through the full send path — templates, signers, webhooks, audit log — and skip the charge entirely. The balance check is not skipped, so keep at least $0.25 on the account; test sends never draw it down.
Do unused funds expire?
No. Your balance sits on your account until you spend it. There is no monthly reset and nothing to use or lose.
