Each provider is priced at the cheapest published plan that covers the volume and the team, at annual billing where that is cheaper. Above a provider's top published tier we show a quote rather than guess (1 at this volume). Seats only add cost where the vendor publishes a per-user charge; DocuSign, Dropbox Sign and Signaturely's API plans publish none. One-time free allowances, including our own free contracts, are left out. Tiers read from each vendor's pricing page on October 16, 2026.

DocuSeal also offers unpublished volume discounts, and is free if you host it yourself. Zoho Sign Standard is capped at 25 envelopes per user a month; past that we price Professional.

The fine print

What you are and are not charged for

Sending is the only thing in the product that moves your balance. The rest of this list is here so nothing surprises you later.

Billable

  • Sending a contract

    $0.25, charged once when the contract is sent.

  • Resending a contract

    A resend goes through the same send path, so it costs another $0.25. There is no separate free reminder.

Always free

  • Extra signers on a contract

    The charge is per contract, not per signature. A contract with six signers costs the same as one with a single signer.

  • Test-mode contracts

    Contracts created with test_mode run the full send path, are never charged and need no balance. The signing request and the completed PDF go to you rather than the signers, and the document is stamped TEST. Test mode can only be set when the contract is created.

  • Team members

    There is no per-seat charge and no seat count anywhere in the billing code. Invite whoever needs access.

  • Templates, webhooks, API keys, storage

    Nothing else in the product touches your balance. Sending is the only billable event.

Is there a monthly fee?

No. There are no subscriptions in APISign at all — no plans, no tiers, no minimums. You load a balance and each contract you send draws it down.

Do I need a credit card to start?

No. Creating an organization grants a $5.00 balance automatically, which is 20 contracts at $0.25 each. You only add a card when that runs out.

What happens when my balance runs out?

Sending returns a 402 with the amount you need, and nothing is charged. You can add funds manually or turn on auto-recharge, which tops the balance up from your saved card when it falls below a threshold you set.

Does a contract with several signers cost more?

No. One send is one charge, however many people have to sign it. Providers that price per signature get more expensive as your documents get more parties; this one does not.

Can I test without paying?

Yes. Contracts flagged as test mode run through the full send path — templates, signers, webhooks, audit log — with no charge and no balance needed. The signing email goes to you instead of the signers, so nobody is asked to sign a rehearsal, and the document carries a TEST stamp.

Do unused funds expire?

No. Your balance sits on your account until you spend it. There is no monthly reset and nothing to use or lose.
